Savour Every Moment: Kelownagurl's Slow Travel Diaries

Savour Every Moment: Kelownagurl's Slow Travel Diaries
12 year old me, reading the paper at a campsite. Circa 1972

As I slowly tear myself away from the Meta and Musk platforms—Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Twitter—I am gradually replacing them with more "wholesome" social media sites like Bluesky, which is free from ads and algorithms, and using an app called Signal, or simply texting, for messaging friends and family. However, I have struggled to find suitable replacements for some other aspects of my social media presence.

One thing I will truly miss is sharing my travel photos and updates with friends and family. That’s why I decided to start this "blog," "newsletter," or "website"—whatever you want to call it – as it’s intended to serve as a replacement for my Facebook travel updates.

While you won't see my travel posts show up in your FB feed anymore, you will still be able to follow our adventures by clicking the free "subscribe" button.

A subscription will give you full access to my posts, as well as email newsletters about new content when it's available. There will be no charge and I will primarily be posting updates about our travels so you aren't likely to find your inbox inundated with every little thing I used to post on FB, including my political rants.

You are welcome to bookmark this site for easy access, or you can simply wait for an email notification letting you know there’s a new post available for you to read.

So, while you’re here checking it out, be sure to hit subscribe, because I will be leaving Facebook for good sometime soon. And be sure to follow me on Bluesky or add me on Signal if you know me in real life.

Happy travels, everyone!
